 Statement
My Work is an interpretation of personal feelings about the women in my life and the perception of their identities. The goal of the portraits is to create a connection with the viewing audience that considers the strengths and vulnerabilities of women in the modern world. The portraits are painted on wood panels and are framed to help deliver the unyielding nature of the subject matter. The application process is a constant balance between the classical concepts of portrait painting and a contemporary approach to empty abstracted space to create a sense of dread or foreboding. These elements work in tandem to create a vast scope of possible feelings and atmospheres in which the work resides.
